Science Education

Founder of the SLAC Particle Accelerator School, a technical training pathway for laboratory staff to acquire accelerator physics and engineering knowledge from local experts.

Primary coordinator of the CORE Science Institute, an immersive week-long science camp, hosted by SLAC National Laboratory in collaboration with non-profit organizations including Science in the City and Green Scholars Program. Through hands-on projects, job shadowing, and accelerator tours, 4th-8th graders of African-American descent build skills and network with scientists and engineers in order to cultivate a sense of belonging in science and explore STEM careers.

Founding Executive Committee Member of Science Accelerating Girls' Engagement in STEM, a week-long residential summer camp hosted by SLAC National Laboratory in collaboration with the Moore Foundation that helps female-identifying public high school students build the technical and professional skill set needed to pursue careers in STEM.

Curator of the SLAC Community Day Junior Operator Experience, an immersive science outreach exhibit for which I led a team that designed an interactive accelerator simulator for SLAC National Laboratory’s Community Day. Participants visited the control room to learn about the physics of accelerators directly from the control room staff and to try their hand at steering an electron beam or tuning the brightness of a photon beam using game-like learning interfaces.
